4 drawer dresser
This dresser measures 51” wide, 20” deep, and 36” tall. It is constructed from 18mm walnut veneered europly. For this project I was looking to use some found materials that I had laying around my shop. Those materials: the luan dove tailed drawers, the vintage handles, and the recycled steel base influenced the size and scale of the piece during the design process. I added push to open drawers for a Luxe upgrade and I wanted to make sure that the back was finished so that the object would look cohesive from any side. The edges were left exposed to accentuate the quality materials and means of construction.
The full extension, push to open side mounted drawer glides add an upgrade over the bottom mounted tracks found on the original drawers.
I hated the cheap looking luan drawers so i decided to paint them French Blue to match the base.
I was very deliberate with the section of the board that I used for the top.
When choosing which section of the board to use as the top I tried to find the center of the grain pattern in the walnut veneer. Although this is only a small detail that will probably go unnoticed by others, It is important for me personally to consider the small details. Doing this didn’t create any more waste in the materials but I feel like it did enhance the look of the piece. The dresser was finished with Osmo PolyX hard wax finish for a nice satin hand rubbed sheen.
