Philosophy

Precision+WabiSabi means a robotically cut fit with a hand made touch. Our furniture pieces are cut by a CNC machine for a superior fit and finished by a Denver Craftsman for imperfection, so each piece is slightly different .

One of my design goals is to create a line of furniture that revolves around simplicity and the Mid–Century-Modern aesthetic. For example the Keeroo series uses veneered 1” Baltic Birch plywood, a material known for it’s superior strength and stability. The edges of the pieces are gently rounded over and not disguised by edge banding to add an overall point of contrast in design and create additional interest by taking advantage of “the plywood look”. Utilizing this material’s inherent strength in combination with a thoughtful design process provides the end user with functional design product that uses simple joinery and as few mechanical connectors as possible. This design and production process creates a simple assembly that anyone can perform quickly.  It is important to me that the furniture pieces retain the ability of the object to be flat-shipped and easily assembled, again and again. Additionally, the piece can be quickly disassembled to be hidden away when not in use and can be reassembled easily.
To echo current economic realities, my furniture needs to reflect certain transience in lifestyle and additionally be reflective of a consciousness of the apartment living environments. In modern urban environments, space is at a premium so the furniture is of a smaller scale. All of the objects in this line share common features like smaller scale, ease of shipping, portability, and comfortable style in an already familiar visual language which makes this furniture ideal for the contemporary city dweller.
The pieces I have created are made from quality materials and the designs impart to the consumer and observer a sense of longevity both aesthetically and in its physicality. My work attempts to fill a gap in the marketplace by providing style and affordability at price points that are attainable and that recognize the importance of endurance, as opposed to a disposable object. Philosophy is not thrifty with the keystrokes.
